DESCRIPTION:At Nkyinkyim Museum\, we celebrate the profound Ghanaian tradition of ancestor veneration a practice rooted in respect\, remembrance\, and spiritual continuity.\nJoin us October 16-18\, 2026\, to explore how our exhibits bridge the gap between the living and the ancestral world\, preserving rituals\, artifacts\, and stories that define\nour heritage. In Akan cosmology\, ancestors (Nananom Nsamanfo) are revered as guardians and intermediaries between the physical and spiritual realms.\nThrough veneration\, communities seek guidance and protection\, maintain cultural identity\, and honor legacies through libations\, prayers\, and symbolic offerings.\nDuring this three-day event\, guests are invited to view sacred objects used in ancestor veneration\, including ceremonial stools embodying ancestral presence and\ntraditional pottery used for pouring libations (Nsa) and offering food and drink (Aduan ne Nsa). Listen to oral histories and proverbs that keep ancestral wisdom\nalive and discover how families pass down traditions through generations. during our Saturday evening Night Life program. Ancestor veneration traditions teach\nus respect for elders and history\, community cohesion\, and spiritual resilience in modern life.\nHonour Your Ancestors with a commissioned Insisu portrait to be placed at the Nkyinkyim Museum Sacred Area. Attend our Ancestor Veneration 2026 ceremony at\nNkyinkyim Museum in Nuhalenya-Ada. Admission is free to attend\, and all are welcome. Food and drinks are available for purchase. SUMMARY:Freedom Parade
DESCRIPTION:The Freedom Parade is an annual body painting and masquerade festival that initially premiered at Nkyinkyim Museum as a Jama competition in December.  The festival has since evolved into a full-blown celebration every January that attracts people from various cultures\, backgrounds\, and artistic expressions.  \nDuring the Freedom Parade\, participants dress up in elaborate costumes and cover their bodies in brightly colored paints and designs\, creating a stunning and unique visual display. The festival also features live music\, dance performances\, and other cultural activities.  \nThe event serves as a platform for artists and performers to showcase their skills\, creativity\, and cultural heritage while promoting justice\, unity\, and social cohesion. The Freedom Parade is a must-see for anyone interested in experiencing Ghanaian culture and artistic expression.
